James Peluso is a documentary wedding photographer based in Skaneateles, New York. With twenty years of experience, his practice is grounded in observation. He works quietly and unobtrusively, allowing the day to unfold without direction. The photographs he makes are for the family — to be looked at not only this year, but in fifty years, by people who will be grateful the day was honestly recorded.
My process
James is the principal photographer for every hired assignment at Alexandria Studios. He personally oversees each wedding ensuring consistent creative direction, image quality, and client experience from first contact through final delivery.
Throughout a wedding day I will be quietly observing, taking storytelling images that create the essence of what the day truly feels like.
Based on your preference which we will discuss together, I can either be hands on - giving you a lot of guidance and direction, or hands off, allowing the day to unfold naturally, or a mix of both.
I love getting to know my clients beforehand via zoom so I can truly understand them as individuals.
For the most part, this process is a collaboration between you and me. I am here to serve you and create artful beautiful images that tell the story of your day.
Working with James is a select team of the best photographers in the Central New York, Finger Lakes, Adirondack, and Skaneateles areas. These collaborators are chosen for their technical skill, professionalism, and alignment with Alexandria Studios’ style and standards. On larger events or when scheduling requires, they assist under James’s direction to capture every moment, maintain coverage continuity, and provide complementary perspectives.
How it works:
James leads client consultations, shot planning, and timeline coordination to set clear expectations.
On assignment days, James is the primary photographer photographing quietly and unobtrusively while assigning specific coverage areas to trusted team members as needed
Every image passes through James’s review and editing process to maintain consistent tone, color, and storytelling across the final gallery.
